unroot your phone , use odin to flash back to stock and then try to update should work what i had to do . check out this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116251 use that program and get to the stock uck... that will allow you to update your phone just make sure you have drivers installed for your phone

it will change the uck of your phone and that should allow you to use kies mini. if your update phone buttons greyed out and says unregistered device its because the uck of your phone is not up for update as of yet . so doing this changes it to one that is. was the only way i found to update my phone. it wont hurt your phone if you do it right and follow all instructions. i claim no responsibility for what happens just merely passing on a solution to a problem i recently just solved . hope it works and you can enjoy gingerbread.

OK I will. I'm just a bit nervous about muffing my phone up. That's y I wanted to try that first but now maybe I wont bother. Man they ain't making this easy huh? I actually like froyo better so I may just say screw it and not even upgrade. Idk. Well c how complicated your method is then ill decide. Oh BTW. Samsung said since my phones under warranty yet I could mail it to them and go without a phone for 15 days and they would upgrade it for free. Lofl!!!

That's what the liars told me too. It still says unregistered device. I like Froyo better any how. All my friends have gingerbread so to heck with them until it gets straitened out.

I called Samsung directly relating to this matter. They researced the issues regarding my baseband version (I997UCKH1) which was a known problem to them. Since my device is still under warranty, the service rep has recommended that I send the phone in for re-flash of the GB update. She said it will probably consist of a two-week turn around time. I have another AT&T phone, so no problem for me I guess. A shipping label was emailed.
