Back in July they said Gingerbread will be coming before the end of the year. .....

ATT actually said they 'PLANNED' to update the Infuse to GB. You think their planning had anything to do with sales?

BTW, Google-Android with partners ATT and Samsung also said they would support upgrading OS for capable phones for 18 months in this video - This was released before the Infuse went on sale. Think this had anything to do with sales?

This chump won't be forgetting anytime soon.

1. the official announcement said the infuse would get it but no date was given. others had dates. not ours.
2. it was a tweet that caused the controversy. damn twits.
3. just about all of the others have gotten it, and they have all had problems afterwards.

and finally

4. anyone that is overly hyped about how great gingerbread is going to be and is overly upset that they haven't gotten it.....
the at&t infuse gingerbread upgrade is floating around cyberspace. not a stolen rogers infuse. not ripped from another phone. not included with some space age Rom. the actual, but probably not final, version that att will be giving us.
it can be yours.

Based on the July press release, and with AT&T having finally just released the Gingerbread 2.3 upgrade to the Captivate commuinity (just within the past couple of weeks, at this writing), the Infuse is next.

By the way, we, in said Captivate community, are learning -- the hard way -- how not to do the upgrade.

When it finally becomes available for the Infuse, don't just upgrade willy nilly.  Instead, backup contacts and SMS to the SIM card; backup the entire phone using MyBackupPro; copy the entire SD card (which includes the results of the MyBackupPro backup) to your desktop/laptop computer's hard drive, as backup; do a GSM Reset to return the phone to precisely the way it came from the factory... fresh out of the box; then immediately -- before the phone gets a chance to get too goofed-up again -- do the 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade.

Then restore data from SIM and the backup; and either reinstall the apps from the backup, or, better yet, re-download and re-install them from the Android Market so that they'll be done absolutely correctly, and also so that the Android Market can warn you if any of your apps are suddenly no longer compatible with your at-that-point-newly-2.3-Gingerbread phone.

Or so, at least, it is my advice.

I just updated mine.  Took about 5 minutes.  Read the other thread about firmware update.
