I didn't see a 'known issues" section, so if this is in the wrong spot I apologize.

I had my first Infuse for a week, and it kept turning itself off.  Usually overnight, but sometimes durning the day.  I could never tell if it was on or off till I hit the power button on the side.  I assumed it was some setting or something I was doing by accident, so I spent a week trying to figure it out.

I finally gave up and took it back into the AT&T store where I bought it.  The chick who sold it to me had one, so I figured she could help.

She told me I was the second one that day who had come in with the same problem, and that as far as they knew there at the store, it was a malfunction.  They relpaced my phone.  It has been a second week now with the new phone, and the problem has not re-occurred.

I am posting this incase someon else is having the same problem.  I tried to search for "auto off" and "auto power" to see if the issue has been posted before, but did not see anytihng.

I had this problem before. Searched google about this and lead me into uninstalling LauncherPro, cause I'm using it for my default homescreen. But it didn't solved the problem, the phone still shuts off by itself. So I went to RadioShack, where I bought it, and they replaced it with a new phone. So far with LauncerPro installed, my phone hasn't experienced any shut off and I hope that it won't. Big Grin

I had my Infuse for about 6 weeks then it started the turning off. So far it has done it about 3 times in the last week. I have gone past my 30 days so I  guess I'm stuck. If it continues I will try resetting my phone. My daughters friend was having the same problem but hers was turning off several times a day. She reset it about 3 weeks ago and it has not shut off since. I'm not sure if she put all the same apps back on.

Yea, I think the one that cause this problem are the apps being installed. So that's why when you reset the phone, it doesn't shut off by itself.

I read here and everywhere else I could find and no suggestion worked, called Samsung, of course it was the first time they'd ever heard of the problem, but, they gave me an RMA and 6 days later after a part was replaced it has worked fine ever since.

The odd part is the support person told me it would be a six day turnaround.  The down sided of having it fixed is that now the browser is the only app that works via WiFi.  I have to insure WiFi is off to connect to the Market or anything else.

I had this problem.  My phone would shut off in the middle of the night (i.e. after long periods of being idle).  I searched for a solution and read that it was going into a 'deep sleep' (like a computer going into Standby).  I read that you could use the app "Load Monitor" and in preferences select "Wake Lock".  It seems to have helped me.

I wonder if just the "Auto-Refresh" setting on "Power Control" widget might be enough.  Although it uses more battery.

hey i have read over at xda forum that the shutting down problem came from the first builds of the phone . it is a hardware problem but there is a certain number in the last 4 numbers of the imei numbers they are the build numbers and i dont remember what builds they were but i will look it back up and repost them here luckily i happen to have an older build number . they were from 2009 builds of the phone.

Mine is 3 days old and also shutting off on its own. My last 4 #'s are 5683 and the # below the s/n is 1007.  My wife bought the same phone, the same way (via amazon wireless) and hers is #1010 and working fine.  Looks like i'll be sending back.  Angry

Yes, from a Samsung press release.  AT&T has sent me a refurb to replace mine, based on the IMEI number (and the shutting off, of course)...only problem is that the replacement IMEI is in the same bad range.  I'll find out tomorrow when I rev it up whether refurbing has corrected the problem!  (It is ver. 1010, instead of 1007 like the original)  A search on "Captive shutdown" should get you to the right thread.

I got my phone 2 months ago and the last 4 digits are 0603. My phone has done the shut down 4 times in the last 3 weeks.

My daughter just got hers December 26th and her number is 1331.

My phone shuts off several times a week. That's not as bad of others I have heard several times a day. Anyway I have caught mine every time. My bluetooth headset will say no phone connected.

It's still annoying though.
