How to Sync your Infuse with Outlook!

Introduction.

The Infuse has it's downfalls, and ever since I've been active in the Infuse Forums, Syncing contacts and calendars has seemed to be one of the major issues. I've finally had enough of the constant complaining of Samsung Kies being so crappy, and although it should work, it doesn't. In that case, complaining will do nothing, so i'm going to compile every single way to sync outlook to your phone. If any of these methods don't work, please notify me as soon as possible, as high school students don't really bother with corporate emails and outlook. I hope this helps prevent you from feeling any tension between you and your Captivating Android Device!

Method One
by iRetard
1. Unlock your Samsung Infuse.
2. Tap the Applications button on the bottom right corner of the screen.
3. Tap the Settings icon inside of your application drawer. (The icon is a blue/silver cog)
4. Tap the Accounts and Sync menu.
5. Tap the Add Account button which is located on the bottom of the screen. (It's a Grey Bar)
6. Tap the Corporate button.
7. Enter the preferred Email Address and matching Password.
8. Tap the Next button.
9. Ener any additional information it requires about your Email Account.
10.Tap the account you've just added to the Accounts List.
11.Enter the preferred settings. (I.E. Sync Contacts/ Sync Calendar/ SNS Sync Interval)
12.Wait until it finishes syncing.(This may take a while.)
13.You should now be Synced!

Method Two(Calendar Only)
by Yerfdog
1. Download Google Calendar Sync at http://dl.google.com/googlecalendarsync/GoogleCalendarSync_Installer.exe
2. Once a dialog box appears, click Save File.
The downloaded file should open automatically. If it doesn't, manually open it from your browser's download window.
3. Click OK to confirm that you're aware this is an executable file.
4. Read through the Google Calendar Sync Terms of Service, and click I Agree.
5. Follow through the Installation Options and click Install to finish the set-up process.
6. In the Settings window, enter your email address and password and select the Sync Option of Two-Way or 1 Way Outlook->Google Calendar.
7. After the initial set-up, you can access the Google Calendar Sync Settings window again by double-clicking the calendar icon in your Windows System Tray.
8. Unlock your Infuse.
9. Tap the Settings icon inside of your application drawer. (The icon is a blue/silver cog)
10.Tap the Accounts and Sync menu.
11.Tap the Add Account button which is located on the bottom of the screen. (It's a Grey Bar)
12.Tap the Google button.
13.Enter the preferred Email Address and matching Password.
14.Tap the Next button.
15.Ener any additional information it requires about your Email Account.
16.Tap the account you've just added to the Accounts List.
17.Enter the preferred settings. (I.E. Sync Contacts/ Sync Calendar/ SNS
18.Wait until it finishes syncing.(This may take a while.)
19.You should now be Synced!

Method Three

Untested
1. Download the Kies application from:
http://www.samsungmobile.co.uk/support/softwaremanuals/software.do?phone_model=GT-I9000
2. Install software
3. Export your Outlook contacts to a .csv file:
File | Import and Export | Export to a  file | Comma Separated Values (DOS) | export from: Contacts | Save exported file as: (some name) | Map Custom Fields
4. At this point I have only mapped the following fields (you may choose more or less):
First Name
Last Name
Business Phone
Mobile Phone
Home Phone
E-mail Address

5. Click OK, then Finish
6. This generates a .csv file of all your contacts
7. In the Kies application, I connected my phone and then went to the Contacts tab and selected the PC sub-tab.
8. At this point, if you already have contacts in your phone:  BACK THEM UP!
9. Click the Open file button and browse to the .csv file you just created.
10.You then get a Field Mapping screen where you can map the fields in the .csv file to the same fields in your Contacts for the Infuse.  There is a check box at the bottom of the window: Select TelephoneNumber Type in person - check this box.
11.Map the fields appropriately.  The Phone number on the Contacts (infuse) side just use a number (1,2,3, etc) and after selecting one, you will then be able to select the type next to it.(kind of weird)
12.After you have mapped the fields, click the Transfer to Device.
13.You may have some duplicates, but they are really easy to clean up using the Kies application.

Nicely done iR.  I think we should lock this and start a "help/how do I do this" thread for those people that still have difficulty.

I was able to sync my Outlook contact to my new Infuse phone by the following steps:

Download the Kies application from:  http://www.samsungmobile.co.uk/support/softwaremanuals/software.do?phone_model=GT-I9000

Install software

Export my Outlook contacts to a .csv file:   File | Import and Export | Export to a  file | Comma Separated Values (DOS) | export from: Contacts | Save exported file as: (some name) | Map Custom Fields

At this point I only mapped the following fields (you may choose more or less):
First Name
Last Name
Business Phone
Mobile Phone
Home Phone
E-mail Address

Click OK, then Finish

This generates a .csv file of all your contacts.

In the Kies application, I connected my phone and then went to the Contacts tab and selected the PC sub-tab.

At this point, if you already have contacts in your phone:  BACK THEM UP!

Click the Open file button and browse to the .csv file you just created.

You then get a Field Mapping screen where you can map the fields in the .csv file to the same fields in your Contacts for the Infuse.  There is a check box at the bottom of the window: Select TelephoneNumber Type in person - check this box.

Map the fields appropriately.  The Phone number on the Contacts (infuse) side just use a number (1,2,3, etc) and after selecting one, you will then be able to select the type next to it.  (kind of weird)

After you have mapped the fields, click the Transfer to Device.

You may have some duplicates, but they are really easy to clean up using the Kies application.

Enjoy.

or you could just download MyPhoneExplorer.
its Freeware, with no ad-ware. Sync outlook via USB or Wifi.
this program does it all. the only thing that its lacking that kies has is the auto converting video files to
meet the exact resolution and adjustment requirements.

but all my .avi files play with out needing yo convert them, although when i was watching hot tube time machine there might of been a slight delay on the audio.

I'm having same issue...

I'm new to Android, actually returned my Windows Phone because of the lack of sync outside of the cloud = dealbreaker.

I've gotten mixed messages regarding Kies sync.  Websites say it is available and Samsung says it isn't for the Infuse... Samsung makes the software available for the Infuse but then explains NOT for U.S. owners.

So is Samsung holding back from the U.S. pending getting all bugs fixed?

And if it's going to be a while...  What is the best app for Outlook sync via local wifi or usb?

I sure would appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction.  I'm tired of carrying around a paper calendar.

I read the post about how to sync Infuse and Outlook contacts and calendar, but when i get to step 6 I do not have the "Corporate" button as a choice. How do I get that to show up on my phone?
